A Dimensão GRÁFICA – Carlos Vergara (The Graphic Dimension – Carlos Vergara) consisted of one of the most comprehensive exhibitions of the graphic production of this artist from the south of Brazil. Monotype prints, photographs, etchings, silk-screen prints, book and record covers as well as 3D images offered the public a unique oppprtunity to experience 50 years of the work of one of the most important Brazilian artists of the twentieth century.
The exhibition took place at the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro, between November 2009 and March 2010 and was curated by the art collector George Kornis. Automatica helped the artist set up a kind of studio inside MAM-RJ, for the installation of his exhibition in the museum, in constant dialogue with its architecture.

The exhibition, which has the name of the artist, Iole de Freitas inaugurated in October 2009 (and continued showing until February 2010). During a new phase in Casa França-Brasil, after a long period of renovation which finished in April of that same year. Located in downtown Rio, the exhibition of Iole offered an innovative intervention in the classic ambience of the building and its majestic space.
The work consisted of an installation a a system of lines made of steel tubing that supported twisted sheets of transparent polycarbonate which lead the public to experience a new relation with the space. Overlapping lines and planes, the work of the artist and the architecture merged in a common movement, reflected by nuances of light and tension.

Curated by Jair de Souza and Maurício Lissovsky, the exhibition A imagem do Brasil no tempo da Segunda Guerra (The Image of Brazil During The Second World War) took place at Centro Cultural da Justiça Eleitoral, Rio de Janeiro, from December, 2009 to January 2010. The objective was to present a multimedia panorama of Brazil’s participation in the greatest world conflict of the twentieth century.
The installation revolved around the contrast between three graphic registers of the period: the official photographs taken by The Estado Novo (New State), under the leadership of Getulio Vargas, the informal photos made by Life Magazine, in accordance with the North American perspective of integrating Brazil into the block of allies and finally, the popular point of view presented by the caricatures of Nassara and J. Carlos.

With the intention of introducing the Brazilian public to the work of French landscape artist Auguste François Marie Glaziou (1833-1906), the exhibition Glaziou e os jardins sinuosos (Glaziou and the Winding Gardens), curated by Anna Paula Martins, took place at the Botanical Gardens, from November 2009 to January 2010. The exhibition was produced by Automatica, using a series of stands along with graphic displays in the area. A a wide range of original documentation of “Glaziou” work was shown.
This exhibition presented images and projects rearding the decisive role this landscape artist had on the urban development of Rio de Janeiro in the nineteenth century, for the first time ever. This exhibition relied on a large professional staff, and included projections and an original sound track.

Between November 2008 and February 2009, the collective Chelpa Ferro exhibited in the Museu de Arte de Pampulha, Belo Horizonte, the installation Acusma. It consisted of a set of ceramic vases connected to speakers and cables, causing a sort of sound hallucination. The contrast between the delicate craftsmanship of the vases and the auditive disturbance created by the sound piece is the core of this work, once again produced by Automatica.

This time with the work of João Modé, Automatica produced an exhibition for Projeto Respiração (Project Respiration). Conceived by curator Marcio Doctors, the idea of establishing a connection between the classic collection of the Fundação Eva Klabin and contemporary art became, over the years, one of the major initiatives in the area of Brazilian visual arts.
For this edition, João Modé offers with Invisíveis (Invisibles), small and subtle transformations in the pieces making up the collection of the house, presenting an esthetic viewing into the memory of its famous inhabitant. In the sounds and smells of the past, in the memory of the experience of other times and in recording the passage of time, Modé created an atmosphere both affectionate and challenging to the sensitivity of each visitor.

Doida Disciplina (Crazy Discipline) is the title of the exhibtion by the carioca painter Gabriela Machado, which was held in Centro Cultural da Caixa Econômica Federal, in Rio de Janeiro, between May and June 2009 and in Caixa Cultural São Paulo, between December 2009 and January 2010.
Curated by Ronaldo Brito, the large paintings of Gabriela were displayed directly in a space where the cleanliness of elements enhanced the contrast between the large color areas and the severity of the white background. This was an exhibion whose title sums up the artist’s work in an exemplary manner.

Curated by Agnaldo Farias and Jacopo Crivelli, Athos Bulcão – Compositor de Espaços (Athos Bulcão — Composer of Spaces) was held in the Museu Nacional do Conjunto Cultural da Republica, in Brasilia, in March and April 2009.
The exhibition was constructed with two main objectives: to recontextualize, preserving real scale , the production of tiles and other architectural elements, and to reveal the process by which the artist collaborated with his fellow architects, by means of technical drawings, floor plans and sketches.
